The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Best Robot Hoover Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and best robot hoover mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic vacuum and mop robot spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
