The only issue it has is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could miss.

The Roborock model, like the other two I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can automatically alter its direction and clean them without skipping a beat.

It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it has just three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.

The only issue I encountered in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. You can change the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and configure these features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. But you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with its innovative features, top suction power and advanced mowing abilities. Its clever design permits customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. It does have many features that make it stand out. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can automatic vacuum cleaner and mop up pet hair and other small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

Its mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use.
